Kevin, There's no way to really repay you for what you taught us. If I thanked you a million times, it still wouldn't cut it. Randy is an excellent instructor. Period. If I were a novice, I would have been floored by his ability to teach. Randy is approachable and has a lot to offer in the education department.
Noel and Michael were simply fantastic. They are both so passionate about photography and share their love for it through guiding, teaching. They really cared, too, about our comfort and how we were doing when the hiking was tough. I think I should just adopt them both. True professionals. They read the weather conditions and made the best choices for us to get beautiful images. They knew every spot, scouted ahead of time. They were able to change on a dime with our plans as the weather changed fast. They worked with each student to help us with details of lens choices, aperture, and ISO, speed, composition. And the Lightroom sessions were great, both personal help and group sessions. I learned so much. I am not as experienced as many were on the trip and it was a terrific experience.
You guys always put your heart and soul into these trips, and it shows—can't wait for more adventures :).
Lisa LaPointe is an excellent mentor. She found ways to teach at all levels. I admired her ability during review sessions to take a mundane image and find ways to improve it, all without distressing the maker.
Skarpi was a great leader. He's a fine photographer, patient, has a great sense of humor, and never gets exasperated or out of sorts. With this very accomplished group of photographers, who scattered to the winds at almost every location, he never lost sight of anyone and we always felt safe.
Of the several photo workshops I have attended, this one had the best instruction. Michael and Mike were proactive in offering help and advice. The critiques were honest, helpful, and encouraging.
I learned so much. Both Marc and Andy were great and couldn't do enough to help in every way possible.
Talor was very knowledgeable and the critiques were awesome. Talor Stone is a great workshop leader. Really made the workshop fun. Would gladly take another workshop with her as the leader.
The workshop exceeded expectations! Randy and Ceci are outstanding professionals who work exceptionally well as a team. They obviously have a deep respect for each other and that translates well into the way they built their very positive relationships with us as individuals and as a team. Gotta love the way Randy leads, directs, coaches suggests, and shares his vast knowledge of the craft. Ceci is a great coach and knows the mountains like no other so her coaching on composition was particularly valuable.
Could not have been happier with Talor. She's pleasant, upbeat, super-knowledgeable, and full of energy. Being in a vehicle on lengthy drives with her and Lisa was a joy. So impressed with Talor's ability to demonstrate Lightroom techniques. She spoke for a content-rich hour and a quarter without an "um" or "ya know".
This was probably the best-kept secret of your workshop. David and Kevin were available 24/7 for questions, not only during Lightroom sessions but on the bus and in the field as to how to use my camera, set up for shots, etc.
I got more intentional with my composition after all I learnt from David and Johnathan. I’m so grateful for the experience that Muench Workshops provides, I’ve grown more than I could ever imagine with just 2 workshops. Thank you for creating a community that fosters growth in all these amazing locations.
Very active workshop, no time to dilly dally, which was great. Really enjoyed the setup and structure of each day. I'm really glad we had the food catered. That really beats having to go out for each meal and wait, particularly with the size of group.
Highly recommend Wayne Suggs for this or any workshop. As you can see here, he's an amazing photographer and I can tell you from my own experience, a fantastic teacher. Of course, being a Muench Workshop means all the details will be top-notch.
One thing that really sets Muench Workshops apart is the personal attention in the months leading up to the adventure. I was astonished that Andy called me directly to talk about the workshop when I emailed my interest. It meant the world to me that he cared enough to work with me to help me get to the point of being able to make the decision to attend. The opportunity to ask him questions during the prep for the workshop was fantastic and helped take some of the guesswork out of the prep regarding adequate layers. As it turned out, without that interaction, I would not have upgraded my already significant cold-weather gear (which was critical for this adventure) ...and been cold. I never expected -20 degree boots would not be sufficient!
Greg Vaughn is a terrific photographer, an outstanding teacher, and a superlative guide. Greg always 'knows the territory. It doesn't matter if he 'wrote the book' for an area, as he did for both Oregon and Washington” by the way his books are easily the best in class or if he is going to a location for the first time. In either case, you can rest assured that he will be totally prepared in every way. He will know where to go and when to be there. He will have the light figured out. He will have the iconic shot zeroed in and he'll have several variants. I have been on a number of photo trips over the past 6 years. I have done more with Greg than anyone else and he is right in the very top echelon of photography professionals. When I'm with Greg, I always have a great time, I always learn a lot about the craft of getting a great image and I always come away with images I treasure. He is the quintessential pro.
Marc was amazing!! We knew about the talent but what he demonstrated with the group was beyond that. He was extremely patient and fun to be around. He made the grayish thing look amazing... I enjoyed meeting all the great people that were part of the shop and I would love to do it again!!! FYI.. The food was awesome as well!! Thank you for a great experience !!
Randy's tutorials and onsite assistance were the best I have received to date in the many workshops I have attended from several different providers. Paolo also provided valuable insights aiding me to get the best out of each location. Together they made a formidable team providing a relaxed, good-humoured environment in which we learned much that will help improve our craft.
Marc is sooo patient and thorough. I actually retained some things!
